West Beach: Permanent Overnight Ban

A Fire Risk Assessment, carried out by HBC, resulted in a permanent overnight parking ban 10pm-6am, following the increase in overnight parking of motorhomes often parked too closely together at West Beach: “The island has a number of sites better suited to overnight stays in motorhomes and we would encourage visitors to use these facilities. West Beach car park is situated within a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) and is therefore not permitted to have marked parking bays that would separate distance between parked vehicles. The term ‘motorhomes’ is used for private vehicles with sleeping accommodation, or have been adapted for sleeping in, for the motor taxation class ‘motor caravan’." Please let us know your views on this matter and of course, your Councillors. Cllr. Narinder Bains is Cabinet Lead for Neighbourhoods, Safety & Enforcement.
